Pets & Weddings

I am probably one of the biggest dog lovers you will ever meet.  Leading up to our wedding, we didn't plan on having our dogs at the event as we were living in Calgary and didn't think they would travel well.  About six weeks before, our plans changed and we decided to fly the dogs to PEI with us.  They were not allowed at our venue due to health regulations but I wanted them involved as much as possible.  We had included them in our engagement photos and they turned out beautifully and the dogs were mostly well behaved so of course we had to have them in our wedding photos too!

Our dogs are truly our children so the day would not have been complete without them being involved in some capacity! Rachel & Kim did an awesome job keeping both of their attentions and capturing the love.  We were worried they would be wild but they calmed down pretty fast and seemed to sense it was an important day.

Bottom line, if your pets are like your children, consider having them as a part of your special day! I would have loved to have mine walk me down the aisle but I know that would have just turned into a nightmare of Pontos barking at everyone and Nora slobbering on everyone so I'm happy with our compromise.  I said it a few times, though, and I still think that if I could do it all over again, I'd pick a dog friendly venue and have a pen set up for everyone to bring their dogs to the wedding!

How beautiful is this photo of my Pontos by Rachel Peters Photography ?!? <3

Until next time,
